Queensland public service roles use streams. Administrative Officer grades run AO2, AO3, AO4, AO5, AO6, AO7 and AO8, then Senior Officer and the Senior Executive Service. Professional, operational, nursing and health-practitioner streams use their own labels. Leadership Competencies for Queensland group behaviours as Vision, Results and Accountability. The role description names a leadership stream: individual contributor, team leader, program leader or executive.

An AO3 role in a local service centre is read for accurate work and service to the team. AO4 and AO5 roles start to own a caseload or a project. AO6 and AO7 roles are where panels look for leadership of people or of a body of work. A coast vacancy in schools, housing, transport, environment or health corporate services is still scored at that classification. An example about a Brisbane cabinet process will not land on a frontline AO5 role, and a hotel duty list will not land as an AO6 statement.

Clinical roles in Sunshine Coast Health use nursing, medical and health-practitioner streams. Corporate roles inside the hospital and health service can be AO or professional grades and can still use the Leadership Competencies. Federal APS roles on the coast follow APSJobs. Do not send a Queensland statement to an APS panel.

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service includes Sunshine Coast University Hospital at Birtinya, the tertiary hospital, and Nambour General Hospital. The service also includes smaller campuses and Gympie Hospital. Birtinya is where higher-acuity medical, surgical, emergency, maternity and cancer work sits. Nambour is a different campus with its own services. Naming only 'Sunshine Coast Health' makes a panel guess which one.

Clinical résumés need registration, the campus and the unit. A graduate nurse application is placement evidence and the graduate program. A clinical nurse or a nurse unit manager application is the team, the standard and the outcome. Allied health needs the profession and the caseload. Private hospitals on the coast, including Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital beside the public campus, are separate employers.

Health-corporate roles in patient flow, finance, capital, community health and digital systems follow the SmartJobs pack when the role is a Queensland Health or hospital-and-health-service vacancy. The statement still has to show this health service. A Metro North example with the hospital name swapped is obvious to a local panel.

The University of the Sunshine Coast recruits professional staff and academics, mainly at Sippy Downs. TAFE Queensland campuses on the coast recruit teachers and corporate staff. University forms ask for the service, the students, or the research. They are not SmartJobs statements. Say the campus the advertisement names.

The visitor economy is the private market. Hotels and venues from Caloundra to Noosa, Australia Zoo at Beerwah, and Sunshine Coast Airport at Marcoola recruit operations, guest experience, food, retail and commercial staff. A hospitality résumé needs the venue type, the volume, the team and the service standard. An airport résumé needs the operation, the airline or the contractor, and the outcome. Neither document should open with Leadership Competencies language.

Construction and development along the coastal corridor, including master-planned communities, recruit site engineers, supervisors and trades. Those résumés need the package, the standard and what you were accountable for. Sunshine Coast Council uses its own local government process, which is not a SmartJobs AO statement unless the advertisement is actually a state role.

Queensland vacancies with a Sunshine Coast location are lodged on smartjobs.qld.gov.au. The role description states the classification, the location, the leadership stream and how you will be assessed. Many ask for a résumé and a one-page or two-page statement. Some ask for separate responses to criteria. Apply in the format the advertisement allows, through a SmartJobs account.

The statement is the selection document when the ad says so. It is tighter than five long essays. Each example still needs a situation, what you did, and the result, mapped to the competencies the role description lists. A statement that never mentions the coast program, the client group or the classification wastes the page.

A one-page APS pitch is for federal agencies. It uses the Integrated Leadership System. If SmartJobs asks for a Queensland statement, write the statement. If APSJobs asks for a pitch, write the pitch. A private hospitality or clinical résumé is a third file.
